Grapplers are an interesting fighting game character archetype. Instead of needing fast hands for long strings of combos, they rely on slow but hard hitting moves that requires good anticipation and opponent reading.
Street Fighter V could use more of there to join the likes of Zangief. So the next DLC character they brought in Abigail. First seen in the Final Fight series, this it the first time the character is playable in Street Fighter. Not only is he huge, he has some good command throws and armoured moves.
Check out the trailer below:
Abigail is out on July 25 and like the rest of the new DLC that is Akuma, Kolin and Ed, these characters are included in [...]
In the age where demos are rare and beta access takes that place despite being so close to release to be considered a beta, we usually mix these terms up. But in the case for Street Fighter V, there will be indeed a beta test. The fighting game is already out, but Capcom is still working on making the Capcom Fighters Network, the online infrastructure that includes cross-play between PC and PS4 players used for SFV. As such, an online beta test will be conducted for all PS4 and PC players to try out the game and stress test the online servers. No purchase necessary.
The new online changes should handle rage quitters better by providing tags for prominent offenders (and a high [...]
After a few delays (and some leaks) it is now confirmed that the next new character for Season 2 of Street Fighter V will be Ed. All the characters from Season 2, aside from Akuma, are to be their debut entry into the fighting game series. Kolin was the first one, released back in February.
Story wise, Ed has appeared in the lore since Super Street Fighter IV. A young boy experimented to be replacement body for M. Bison, for the most part of his life he is raised by tone of Bison’s henchmen, the boxer Balrog. Ed also appeared in Balrog’s character story in SFV.
Ed’s gameplay is heavily influenced by these two characters. He utilises Bison’s [...]
If you’re looking forward for the mid-season buffs and nerfs to apply this week for Street Fighter V, bad news. The balance update that was scheduled to drop this week has been delayed indefinitely. In the Capcom Unity post, it was explained that the balance update as well as an overhaul to the online system, the Capcom Fighters Network (CFN), are tied together. The overhauled CFN, which was available for everyone to try out as a beta test on PC, still required more work however. Another round of beta test, with all access to characters (including the next DLC character for Season 2) will be made available in the near future.
In the meantime, Capcom is dropping in more [...]
Continuing the world warriors theme of the series, Street Fighter V finally returns to one of the more iconic locales the series have taken place on: Thailand. First teased at WonderCon 2017, it will be available on April 25, either purchased with real money for $4 USD or using the in-game currency priced at 70,000 Fight Money.
Curiously, the Capcom Unity post only mentions the stage to be the first time we see M. Bison, and no mention of the hulking man with the Tiger Uppercut, Sagat, is to be seen considering this was his stage. The character is a fan-favourite, and one of the more fan requested ones.
Alongside that, three new school-themed costumes will also be [...]
The balance changes in Season 2 of Street Fighter were comprehensive but filled with decisions that the community don’t really agree on, with massive nerfs to some characters that was a staple in high-level tournaments to be completely see no use.
Interestingly, Capcom will attempt to remedy this by issuing a balance patch coming at the end of April. While the main idea of having balance changes only happening off season was not to have mid-season changes to swing in favour of certain players in the Capcom Pro Tour, looks like the balance issues are concerning enough that it has to be remedied sooner.
As stated in the post over at Capcom Unity, “our goal is [...]
