The OGN Overwatch APEX for season 1 is has come to an end, and has introduced us to many Korean talents and teams to watch for, and how they stacked up with the established NA and EU teams invited to the tournament. But the two big names in Overwatch butted heads once again at the quarterfinals.
The four invited teams from NA and EU were at par with the rest of the competition, with some Korean team might be even be stronger. NRG eSports did not make it out of the pools (and have recently made some roster switch), REUNITED lost to Afreeca Freecs Blue at their quarterfinals match, and both EnVyUs and Rogue were paired to [...]
Let’s welcome our South Korean overloads that have now proven themselves they can dominate in Overwatch, like most e-sports games they are playing. The Overwatch World Cup top 8 saw South Korea emerged out of the groups without dropping a map. And they continued their dominating run to the finals maintaining that record.
USA did as best as they could to stop South Korea, possibly the best team to give them a run for their money and they still lost 2-0. The top stars of Sweden, which managed to held down China, could not make a dent to South Korea’s defences in the semi-final match. Sweden’s captain [...]
It come to no surprise that Overwatch e-sports is going to go big pretty quick. With the Overwatch Open offered $300,000 USD in prize pool for a game only a few months since launch and being produced by ELEAGUE, a major e-sports production, and the sporadic growth of tournaments, even China and South Korea are supporting Overwatch, now we have an official league.

The groups are interesting, with Group A having favourites Sweden, Spain, Canada and Brazil, Group B with a stacked team of USA, Russia, Germany and Chile, Group C with Finland and South Korea being grouped with Taiwan (a.k.a. Chinese Taipei) and Australia, and Group D with 3 Asian teams, China, [...]
