As mentioned in the announcement of the Selangor Cyber Games 2017, The Legends Circuit (TLC), Malaysia’s premier circuit for League Of Legends will be part of the event. The last two teams will be competing at the grand stage, winners walking away with RM40,000 prize. Winners will also be getting the one spot to the Garena Premier League- the League Of Legends pro circuit for Southeast Asia.
The current teams in the run for the TLC Grand Finals are Orange Esports Swestic, Eternity Esports, Nirvana Gaming and reigning champions Kuala Lumpur Hunters. KL Hunters finished in the top 4 at Garena Premier League in the last spring split.

The state government endorsed Selangor Cyber Games was a huge success last year. Successful enough for the event to return for the second time around. 2017 will see a bit of a shake up- only four games this time and as a result, a smaller total prize pool of RM180,000.
However, the bulk of the total RM330,000 offered last year was part of the Mineski Pro Gaming League (MPGL) South East Asia Championship which was roughly RM200,000. MPGL isn’t returning this time, and with less tournaments offered, the prize pool per game is bigger than last year.

Ever played Mobile Legends? It’s the new hit game among mobile gamers in Malaysia and Southeast Asia in general. It’s a mobile MOBA, something seen before from games such as Vainglory. But instead of stripping down mechanics and map size, Mobile Legends play a lot like League Of Legends, but faster matches. But it looks and plays very similar.

As such, Riot Games, developers of League Of Legends are now attempting a lawsuit against Mobile Legends developer Moonton. The lawsuit, which can be viewed here, details all the copyright infringement Riot is going against.

Today at Sunway University, Garena Malaysia officially announced their latest initiative to help growing collegiate level esports in Malaysia. The Garena Student Alliance (GSA) is a platform where various esports clubs in Malaysia’s universities and colleges can get help to grow their club further and helps growing more talented in esports.
“Esports has triggered a major surge across the world and few could have envisioned that education and competitive gaming could co-exist as they do today,” said Justin Lye, Product Manager at Garena Malaysia.

Riot Games, the developers behind the MOBA League Of Legends, has announced a new program that will benefit college students in Malaysia. The Riot Student Ambassador program is the first of its kind here in Malaysia, where selected students under this program will undergo a one-year program that “aims to help participants develop transferable career critical skills and jump-start their future careers, regardless of their chosen discipline.”
The first batch of students for the Riot Student Ambassador has been selected- 28 students from 28 different universities and colleges around the country. A minimum of CGPA 3.5 were required to apply for the program.
Fire Dragoon is a local e-sports team that has making names here in Malaysia. Their Dota 2 team managed to reached 6th for the Boston Major SEA Qualifiers and finished third in last year’s UMobile GameOnz MSI MGA Dota 2 Tournament. Their League Of Legends squad is now in the top 4 in the Malaysia’s equivalent to the LCS- The Legends Circuit hosted by Garena. They also once had one of the strongest CS:GO roster in Malaysia.
