Reports gathered from the folks at Eurogamer has found that due to the influx of new projects and the low sales from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the studio right now is shifting to work on other projects while putting the Deus Ex franchise on hold.
Mankind Divided was a solid game, but it ends on an unsatisfactory note. It happens that the game’s story had to be split as it grew larger in scope, thus the five year wait between Mankind Divided and Eidos Montreal’s first take on the rebooted Deus Ex, Human Revolution.
The developers are now busy working on the next Tomb Raider game, as earlier leaks has reported, as well working with Crystal Dynamics on the [...]
Want to try out Deus Ex Mankind Divided but not yet willing to spend the money for it? Well this is good news, the Breach Mode from the game has been spun off as a standalone, free-to-play game on PC.
Breach Mode is an arcade-style take to the Deus Ex formula, with smaller and simpler levels but with (almost) all the tools you would have in the regular single-player. You don’t play as Adam Jensen though. It is framed as someone doing some VR hacking, with some loose ties to the main story. But why would Square Enix would ever release a portion of their game for free?
Well, as we noted in our review of Deus Ex Mankind Divided:
“It’s fun for what it is, [...]
We never asked for this, but now we got it all for free. Deus Ex Mankind Divided offered a ton of bonus pre-order items that includes skins for Adam Jensen, skins for weapons, an in-game mission, and access to a mini comic, a novella and a mini artbook. All of these are remnants of a disastrous pre-order campaign that incorporates the ideas from crowdfunding. That campaign got backfired and cancelled in the end.
But anyway, pre-order items like this usually crop back into the digital store as paid DLC, so seeing that everyone gets it free is a pretty sweet deal.
The novella, mini artbook and mini comic can be downloaded here. For the in-game items, it will be [...]
Deus Ex, the original 2001 game was a classic. It offered numerous choices to the player, not just in terms of story branches, but also by having emergent gameplay. Eidos Montreal was tasked to make another entry to the franchise. The result? 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution, one of the best games to receive a new entry being done by an entirely new team.
Now, Eidos Montreal is back for a sequel.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided builds upon the successes of Human Revolution, and learnt well from past mistakes. The result is a denser, polished experience that is overall great, but still [...]
Rolling on the pre-E3 hype train, Square Enix has shown off 17 minutes worth of footage for Deus Ex Mankind Divided, the new open-ended first person RPG by Eidos Montreal. It was revealed during a Deus Ex livestream over on Twitch.
The footage shows Adam Jensen’s apartment in Prague, one of the city-hubs of the game. Our protagonist didn’t hang around too long in there, as he traverse the city to help out a friend who found some trouble. Throughout the video there’s plenty of hints on where you can branch out or approach it in different way, in true Deus Ex fashion.
Deus Ex Mankind Divided has been quiet with their promotion recently. Most probably due to the backlash of the pre-order campaign. Despite that, Eidos Montreal’s latest game may still live up to the surprisingly faithful and fantastic 2012 prequel game.
Since it’s been so since the last game, this new trailer summarises what is the story so far, without spoiling the prior game’s ending, and gives you a brief on what to expect in the first hours of Mankind Divided’s plot, being narrated by protagonist Adam Jensen’s sweet, gruff voice. Aside from the story, gameplay choices are emphasised. You [...]
