E3 has come to a close, and the last bit of awards are now in. The biggest media outlets were able to vote for the best games shown at E3 in various categories and now the winners have been announced.
It comes to no surprise that Super Mario Odyssey wins the big Best Of Show award. Nintendo taking both huge risks with the introduction of new mechanics (like the possession ability) as well as going back to make sandbox-style 3D platformers like the past has gained high approval from critics (as well as fans, with their YouTube numbers being high as well). Odyssey also takes the Best Console Game and Best Action/Adventure Game award.
The other Mario game by Ubisoft, Mario [...]
ARMS, Nintendo’s new fighting game for the Switch was not released yet as of last week, but that hasn’t stopped people at E3 trying their luck in the ARMS Open Invitational. 8 players, 4 pro players selected by Nintendo and another 4 qualifying through the rounds on the E3 showfloor.
At the end of the day, Zerk, one of the contestants qualified through the floor emerged champion and held the honour of lifting the championship belt. But then the announcer pulled a surprise exhibition match and called in ARMS producer Kosuke Yabuki to challenge the winner.
While many may feel the fighting game seems to be a bit too simplistic, Mr. Yabuki’s performance [...]
Say what you will with EA’s lacklustre press conference in comparison to the rest, but when it comes to YouTube numbers, they won E3. They won big.
YouTube announced the stats of the most viewed games on YouTube during E3 2017. These numbers include trailers, official gameplay, media coverage as well as reactions from fans. And it looks like EA’s strategy on bringing loads of content creators to their show paid off as four of thier games dominated the top 10 list.
Star Wars Battlefront II is the massive hit this year, as expected with 7.9 million views on the official gameplay alone. (Hopefully YouTube excluded the original Battlefront II that [...]
Nintendo has stopped doing big press conferences in favour of a Nintendo Direct style of delivery- nicely edited videos. While we were expected to not see any big announcements, some of those announcements are what fans wanted to hear. And at the end of the day, when it comes to who “wins” E3, that is all that matters apparently.Just Announce Games That We Want!
Nintendo got some huge negative vibes after their Pokemon-themed Direct last few weeks that only announced re-releases of games we’ve seen and obviously not announcing a Pokemon made for the Switch. Some were even furious because it’s obviously what everyone wanted- have a Pokemon game [...]
You can’t win every year. Sony’s presentation this year is more of the same as last year’s- focusing on just the games. It isn’t as impressive this time around since a lot of the games were the ones we knew already but if you are one of the owners of 60.4 million PS4s out there, there’s something for everyone.
Though you might missed out on some big announcements if you just watch the main press conference.Big Announcements.. From the Pre-Show?
This is a bit weird. Sony prioritises some games over the others, and the games with not as a big appeal are relegated into the pre-show. And this is not just small announcements. We got a [...]
Mario is returning to full-on 3D sandbox platforming in the most ridicilous way possible, but it sure looks fun. Over one hour of footage has been shown of the gameplay of Super Mario Odyssey with three different levels- the streets of New Donk City, the lush jungles of the Wooded Kingdom and the breezy Sand Kingdom.
Take a look below:
As you can see, the bulk of the gameplay revolves around a sort-of hub world, with pure platforming sections tucked away in a separate segment of the worlds. Mario’s possession powers are also shown in full force as he posses into various living things and inanimate objects. You can also use those coins as money now and buy Mario [...]
