The Malaysian FGC is on a roll. With the recent announcement of Astro’s eGG Network sponsoring Team Flash Vision, housing the best Malaysian Street Fighter V players, now we have the date for the next Flash Vision (FV) Cup. The yearly event has mostly been focused for Street Fighter due to its status as a Ranking Event under the Capcom Pro Tour. This year it will remain holding that status, but it is also adding other fighting games to the mix.
FV Cup 2017 will commence on the 23rd-25th of September at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel.
These games will all have their own tournaments:Street Fighter V (Part of the Capcom Pro Tour) Tekken 7 (Part of FV Cup Tekken [...]
Capcom just announced the new and improved Capcom Pro Tour 2017- the main tournament circuit for Street Fighter V. This year we will see a much more streamlined format to follow along, leaving less talk about how anyone will get to qualify to Capcom Cup at the end of the year and focus on more hype matches.
The main event, Capcom Cup, will now have an even bigger prize pool out of the gate: $600,000. The format is said to have a few more improvements- the gruelling best of five tournament for every match in the 32 player bracket turned out to not be the best experience for most players, but that will be announced in the future.
The breakdown for the 32 spots in Capcom [...]
What a roller coaster ride of hype Capcom Cup 2016 was. This was the last and biggest event for the first season of Street Fighter V, and the results were pretty much shocking. Legends and generally strong players are out as early as two matches, and we had an all-American Grand Finals. With $250,000+ worth of prize pool, with extra money added on top of that from the Capcom Pro Tour DLC sales, there’s a lot in the line for these 32 players, all invited by performing well in the Capcom Pro Tour throughout the year. And it won’t be a walk in the park, as all matches in the tournament will be played in a best of five, so there’s room for [...]
The Capcom Pro Tour comes to a close for the year, and the points have been tallied to determine the top 32 players that will be making their way to Playstaion Experience in California, USA to participate in the Capcom Cup. Capcom Cup is the final destination where all these world warriors have been competing in various Capcom-approved events that adds up points with only one game being played: Street Fighter V.
While most really did become world warriors- going around the world to participate in fights just like how the fighters in Street Fighter V are doing- there have been methods of qualifying via online [...]
The Flash Vision Cup 2016, held in conjunction with MSI’s Masters Gaming Arena at Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, is the last ranking event in Capcom Pro Tour for Asia. Being the last destination to secure some points, with the winner getting a spot in the Capcom Pro Tour Asia Regional Finals, many world warriors across the globe headed down to challenge the many local players participating. Hong Kong’s TSE4444 could gain a spot in the Capcom Cup if he wins this, while previous FV Cup champion RB|Bonchan is looking to defend his title. So is GGP|Kazunoko, Capcom Cup 2015 champion, who has yet to confirm a spot for either the regional [...]
With all the hype from the Malaysian FGC making it big in last weekend’s South East Asia Majors, what if we can see them in action up close and personal, or even compete against them without leaving Malaysia? Well, this is the right tournament for you. FV Cup 2016 is set to be held on 22-23 October at Tunku Abd Rahman University College at KL and it is Capcom Pro Tour Ranking event for Asia.
As such, expect some international players coming here, with defending champion RB|Bonchan, GGP|Kazunoko, Ryan Hart from the UK and UAE’s FA|Big Bird confirmed to make an appearance.
