Oh no. Last week it was revealed that Middle-earth: Shadow Of War, the follow-up to Monolith’s 2014 hit Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor, will have micro-transactions. A premium currency, gold, will exist alongside the in-game currency, mithril, and can be used to purchase XP boosters as well as loot boxes.
You read that right, loot boxes. These comes in two varieties: Loot Chests for gear you can equip on player character Talion, and War Chests that gives you random Orc followers.
The full lowdown can be read here, but in essence they ensured that these micro-transactions only mean you can save time gaining good gear and Orc followers- all the items can be gained [...]
With so many leaks, it’s not much of a surprise anymore, but here is the official reveal of Assassin’s Creed Origins at Microsoft’s E3 briefing. Set in ancient Egypt, this is where we see where the first Assassins all started.
Origins will feature the classic open world action adventure gameplay, including climbing pyramids, arena battles and ship navigation, with more RPG elements sprinkled in, including loot and gear to kit out your protagonist Bayek.
Check out the trailer below:
Assassin’s Creed Origins is set to release on the PS4, PC and Xbox One on October 27.
Looks like Monolith’s next game needs to stick in the shadow (of war) for a bit more. Today the developers announced that the open-world game is pushed back from its original August release to October 10.
Shadow Of War is expanding on a lot of features that made the first game- Shadow Of Mordor- a surprise success. The much praised Nemesis System is expanded in bigger ways, a new loot system as well as various RPG elements being added and a bigger and more varied open world.
” In order to do this, we have made the difficult decision to move our launch date to ensure that Middle-earth: Shadow of War will deliver on that promise,” as mentioned in the [...]
Back in its heydays, THQ had one cool action-adventure property called Darksiders. It’s loosely based on the biblical tale of Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse with Zelda-like gameplay. It received one sequel, with a plan to at least have one game for each of the four horsemen until THQ bankrupted with no picking up the IP and the original development studio, Vigil Games, closed down.
All is not lost however, as Nordic Games picked up the rest of the remaining IPs from THQ as well as the name. Rechristen as THQNordic, this new publisher has been putting out smaller releases like the Titan Quest reamster release on Steam, a De Blob PC port and remastered editions of the [...]
As promised, the first glimpse of the newly announced Middle Earth: Shadow Of War has been revealed. While the sequel’s title to the 2014 hit may not be as catchy, it certainly builds upon the main feature that has yet to be seen in other open world games of its ilk: the Nemesis System. The idea that the orc hierarchy you need to kill or subdue to reach Sauron in the last game is made even more impressive as the orcs are all dynamically affected based on player’s actions. We certainly loved the system in our review.
In Shadow Of War, the system is cranked even further. As Talion and Celebrimbor, you now have to raise an army to take on the war against Sauron. Now [...]
Love it or hate it, the trend of DLC continues and even Nintendo is doing it. For the first time in a Zelda game, the latest title in the series, Breath Of The Wild, will feature them. This comes in the form of an expansion pass priced at $19.99 USD (roughly RM89), which will deliver two chunks of DLC. Along with that, three in-game items will be unlocked via three different chests, one of them is a Nintendo Switch T-shirt.
The first content pack should arrive around summer (June-August) will include hard mode, a Cave of Trials challenge and, curiously, a new feature for the in-game map. The second one scheduled around the holiday season adds a new dungeon as well as a story [...]
