Overwatch World Cup Finals: Groups Announced
With Blizzcon looming on the 4-5th November, Blizzard has finally revealed the groups for the remaining 16 countries that will finish the last leg of the exhibition tournament against countries all over the world. The group draws was done through a livestream on Facebook. The group stages will be played before Blizzcon starts proper. The quarter finals onward will be played at the main event. The 16 countries have went through qualifiers from each region to reach here, though several countries received an automatic qualification.
Here is how the groups looks like:
Looks like a rough group for Brazil, with Sweden and Spain looking convincing based on the lineup filled with mostly pro players. Interestingly, Singapore and Thailand are grouped together, along with China making it 3 teams from Asia within one group.
In other news, the talent lineup for the Overwatch World Cup has been revealed, with familiar faces who has involved in the OGN Overwatch APEX, ESL Atlantic Showdown and ELEAGUE’s Overwatch Open. This should bring some quality to the presentation. Yes, that’s Reinforce from Rogue, winner of Atlantic Showdown and the recent APAC Premier on the analyst desk. Team Sweden is that stacked they can afford to not have a world-class tank and still be the favourites to win. Unless South Korea could pull an upset.
Team assembly…complete. Meet your BlizzCon 2016 broadcasting talent for our first-ever Overwatch World Cup!
