The Acer Predator Triton 700 Is A Gaming Ultrabook To Rival The Razer Blade

When it comes to gaming laptops the size of ultrabooks, the prime example would be the Razer Blade. It’s thin and compact while still packing the heat required for the latest AAA games (at a premium price). Now Acer is rising up to the challenge by introducing the Acer Predator Triton 700.

It’s only 18.9mm thick, packs a 7th-gen Kaby Lake Intel i7-7700HQ (or an i5-7300HQ) CPU, an NVIDIA GTX10 series graphics card, 6 GB of DDR4 RAM and a pair of 512GB SSD storage. Not only is it thin, the layout is a bit different with the keyboards located down the bottom edge to make room for a huge Gorilla Glass window into the heatsinks that doubles as a touchpad. Yes, the touchpad is located on top and somewhere in the center region of the glass piece.

With all the horsepower it is packing the Triton 700 utilises Acer’s expertise on cooling to get it all working. There’s two of the company’s trademarked AeroBlade 3D fans and six heat pipes used in order to keep it all running at a decent temperature.

When it was unveiled at Acer’s global press conference, they compared the Triton with Razer’s gaming ultrabook the Razer Blade. While benchmark scores show that performance wise the Triton is better than the late 2016 model of the Blade, we will have to see the performance ourselves whether it can stand toe-to-toe in practical conditions.

As expected for the Predator line, this will cost a premium. It will be available in the US for $2,999 USD (that’s roughly RM13,019) later this year. If you’re looking for a cheaper Predator, Acer also recently announced their cheapest laptop of the line, the Predator Helios 300.
